I qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and have been specialising in family Law since then. In that time I have been admitted to the Law Society family Law Panel, as well as being a Resolution accredited specialist. I now practice primarily as a family Law mediator (trained 1999; accredited 2003) and work occasionally as a locum family law solicitor.
I welcome the push from the government towards resolution of separation issues outside the court arena where possible. In some circumstances clients prefer to have their solicitors present when they negotiate arrangements. Collaborative Law in my experience works well where there are more complex assets and clients are committed to working together to achieve a practical solution. I can be instructed to work on a collaborative basis by clients who favour this approach.
